Not only is this on of the hottest tracks of 2011 from one of the hottest acts on earth, it's been given the clubroom treatment by Italian electro-house God, Benny Benassi!

Katie Melua - The Flood (Jakwob Remix)
After rising to fame off the back of an Ellie Goulding remix, you'd be right to expect big things from Lincoln's own James Jacob and he delivers with this one; a subtle mature creeper for dubstep fans with a refined palate.

Friendly Fires - Blue Cassette (Tiga Remix)
Some of the remixers we're incuding today are bigger than the original artist! And here's no exception with Tiga delivering his brand of gritty acid-eque techno that I struggle to define with words. Give this a listen (maybe a few listens if you're not yet a Tiga true-blood) and all will become clear. This original track was the highlight of FF's 'Pala' album for me and so I hoped this remix wouldn't disappoint - it doesn't.

Scroobius Pip - The Struggle (Doctor P Remix)
It's no secret that we have a bit of a man crush on old Scroobius here at iknowasong.com, and as much as it pained us to hear that he's taking a hiatus from Dan le Sac we continue to support everything that he does. Even so, we are partial to a remix of his original works, especially where Circus Records' head honcho is involved. Skream - Anticipate (Netsky Remix)
I'd go as far to say that these two artists were the hottest names in the dubstep and D 'n' B genres respectively. Ignoring the cliche, both of these artists continue to evade labelling, doing different things with every release yet maintaining a rare quality. This is jump up D 'n' B for you all, a fitting note on which to end this post on considering you should already be grinning from ear to ear having downloaded all of these tracks! Enjoy. I can't say I was taken by any of that 'oopsy daisy' stuff but at the end of the day, it's tracks like these which make sure that not a bad word is said against this man...

A new week, a new song of the week, although much like last week - we have an emotional number for you.

If you were reading iknowasong.com back in early 2011 you might remember me tipping James Blake's self titled debut album as a future contender for album of the year. I'm certainly not saying it was my endorsement that led to it, but James Blake became an international star last year pioneering his unique twisted, girthy, dubstep music with fine vocals to boot. "The Wilhelm Scream" was certainly an album highlight.

You may also recall that James Blake was very anti-remix. He openly confessed that he'd refused offers from various producers wanting to remix his work because the songs were simply what they were. And I applaud that sentiment, don't fix it if it's not broken and all that. But James' theory surely can't withstand this remix from Gina Turner - this is the one good reason I've found for bootlegging James Blake. It picks up the tempo of the original but not so much that it loses meaning - and this I like. It's moody, emotional, but carries that subtle house flavour that inevitably makes the track more listenable. And by that I mean you have to be in a certain frame of mind to really enjoy James' album, whereas Gina Turner's remix suffers no such minor flaw. This track will inevitably crawl its way up my playlist. 

Growing up in the New York club scene, Turner describes her sets as miminal techno and plays her house 4/4. That's not a field I'd readily associate with female DJ's but she's by no means a new girl on the block having already collaborated with the likes of laidback luke. Now based in LA Gina dj's for 3 radio shows and is turning her attention to production. I can't say I like Lily Allen, I can't say I like her music, and I can't say that I thought these lyrics were appropriate for commercial radio. But what I can say is, the only way I was ever going to like this garbage was if dubstep producer oblivion got hold of it. He has, and now I do.

More dubstep for you here but this time the original track hails from one of my all time favourite bands. Strangely going under his pseudonym 'Feed Me' here (which is most often associated with his electro productions) Jon Gooch of Deadmau5' Mau5trap record label has produced a stomper! You'll recall that 'Spor', another of Gooch's aliases, is responsible for remixing the likes of Noisia, this man is a connoisseur of filthy bass music and this track is no exception.

Some huge names on show with this remix, it's not often we hear an uplifting d 'n' b track nowadays but with the Yorkshire outfit 'utah saints' involved it was never going to be anything but. Plus, given the treatment from the only Derbyshire duo I've ever idolised, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, this makes for a must have.

OK... The Duck Sauce duo of Armand Van Helden and A-trak have struggled to reach the heady heights of 'Barbara Streisand' since it's release, and that's even despite their high profile remixes for the closely affiliated 'Chromeo'. In my opinion, this track was never going to land them in the spotlight again but man of the minute Toddla T puts a jackin' / fidget house slant on this, and it's making headlines in the blog worls. It sounds like something we've come to expect from 'herve', and having not heard a peep from "the Count" in a while now, I love this. If you do like this track, also check out 'audiobotz' on souncloud - I'll be featuring their remixes shortly but the fidget house genre is all over it for me this weekend. Enjoy.

Hackman - Close

This has been kicking about for some time but it's not getting old at all, a garage tinge with some perfect vocals.

Angus & Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane (Stern* Disco Mix)

OK, so this track was voted in as Australia's best track of 2010 on what is possibly the world's greatest radio station; Triple J. It's the most depressing thing you've ever heard but it gets a more upbeat makeover here and makes for a tidy warm up track.

Shinichi Osawa - American

Shinichi is a Kitsune label stalwart and this track proves why, it's got that booka shade synth, it's classy, it's catchy, its a few months old now but hopefully it'll be doing the rounds for a long time.

Acidkids - Josef Geld

Now we're warming up. As my facebook followers will know, I picked this for one of my top tracks of 2011 - it's a Johnny Cash sample, imagine a club remix of 'cotton eyed joe' and you're probably thinking of this. It's good fun.

BRUK - Shine On

Absolute gold. Everything you could ask for this weekend.

Foamo - Vibrations

Hand on heart I reckon this is one of the best 4 track collections to hit the site yet! You have to hear it to believe it.

Two Door Cinema Club - What you Know (lightsoverLA remix) 
This track's from back in late 2010 from a one man outfit out of LA... Now I've heard my fair share of TDCC remixes but this is a title clincher. This is what that word 'epic' was invented for.

Swanky Tunes vs. Madonna - Music Together (Andrew G's Bootleg)
You're not seeing things, this is a bootleg of that Madonna track where she's sat in the back of the limo, MINUS the Ali G contribution! I know what you're thinking, take away Ali G and this track is nothing. But add Andrew G and this equals house anthem. You cannot fault this mans vision - I expected nothing, but this has been one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Make sure you're ready to concentrate for these next few tracks though! Like most house tunes they do notch up a good 7 or 8 minutes of listening time but it's all worth it.

Pace - Bright Shiny Things (instrumental)
Pace has basically taken over the blogosphere, every other track I see is from Pace! But here's just one reason not to complain. You'll enjoy these. Let me know your thoughts. Big Smiles. Tree Boy xoxoxo

Right. A quick update - I wiped my hard drive last week thinking it was my external hard drive which was, and still remains, fucked. As a result I've lost every song, document, program, you name it that I've ever owned. It's taken me until now to stop sulking about it. And this song helped, a lot.

Now I'm not normally one for the playlisted radio tracks, nor am I heard listening to house music much these days, and you certainly won't catch me with much Burns material but that all changed when I heard this, can you get a better vocal sample? If so, give it me. Now.

This is a feel good, main room club anthem at its best. You may prefer the vocal track as opposed to this dub but I highly recommend you carry both on you at all times. It's not often I'm hooked on a first listen but this has humbled and surprised me. I coud hurl the most effusive bollocks at this track on repeat but today I'll spare you.
