If you want hours of fun, type 'indie' into google images... You find gold like this. Also, for even more fun I have found some potential indie gold for you all... Fans of Florence, Penguin Prison, Lykke Li, The Go! Team, Coeur de Pirate and Bedouin Soundclash will enjoy these ones I hope. Armistice - Neon Love
I say fans of Coeur de Pirate and Bedouin Soundclash will like this because Armistice is made up of members of both acts; Jay Malinowski and Beatrice Martin. It has a sort of Country and Western vibe going on and there's not enough of that going about! You might remember us featuring the track 'Brutal Hearts' which they made together - it seems this might now be a more full time arrangement, you can stream their whole self-titled album and buy it for only $5 here!

Austra - Lose it
No lie, I had to double take when I first heard this, I thought Florence had left the Machine. Turns out though that the Toronto based musician, real name Katie Selmanis, is an upcoming star just signed to Domino records.

Maggie Eckford - For What it's Worth
Commentators have picked up hints of Lykke Li, Tegan and Sara and Joanna Newsom in this young lady and you may well agree. A catchy number, you can download a handful of her tracks and find out more at the Triple J Unearthed website here.

The Eclectic Moniker - 2 Officers
And for what it's worth, I think this track is amazing. It has got that Kitsune feel about it, it's cheeky, cheerful and Danish. Download four of their tracks for free at their bandcamp right here!

tUnE-YaRdS - Gangsta
This was very nearly my song of the week, I've developed a bit of an obsession with this! It is a bit strange don't get me wrong but in parts it's something else. I cannot get the vocal 'never move to my hood, cos danger is crawling out the wood' out of my head! With lyrics like that and a track name like so, this track can only surprise you. Their EP 'W H O K I L L' was released 18th April, you can subscribe to their mailing list for more free tracks here! - Tree Boy xoxoxoxo
As well as taking a fair chunk of my music collection, the erasing of my hard drive took with it all my logos, so apologies for the lack of decoration on these posts! But more importantly, I've been restocking all things dubstep, it's a different animal altogether now, this is dubstep version 2.0 with a major filth upgrade. enjoy responsibly.

For those of you who've listened to the above and are in desperate need of some visual stimulus, you may relate to the below...
When Kissy Sell Out calls you 'the future of genres' and 'flipping genius' it's only a matter of time before you become my song of the week. Zeds Dead aka Zac and Dylan from Toronto, Ontario have been putting out tunes together since 2004, setting up their own dubstep night 'bassmentality' a few years back that's now been graced by the likes of Nero, Borgore, Bar9, 16Bit etc.
Zeds Dead's first single 'Rude Boy' was released on Kissy's label 'San City High', it's a beast for sure, but this is my favourite work of theirs to date. Might be a weird choice for some, I can't say I know a great deal about the twilight zone apart from the opening theme but I think I speak for everyone when I say, that sample was made for this track. It's so dark, it's the perfect track to be played at night when your sat inside, all alone, in the dark, during a storm. Not until that's happened do I think we can fully appreciate the genius that's crafted this track, nevertheless, I'm sat outside on a sunny arvo and I'm still loving this... enjoy it with me. Lol @ this pic. It does shed light on a serious issue though which has pissed me right off, again.
Dubstep is an acquired taste, it converts people at different points in time, some of us were converts via Fabric 37, some maybe before that, some of us by the La Roux remix, some of us by mates playing it to us... and some of us are now getting into it via an ear bashing by Skrillex.
And so the piss-taking begins, 'nurrr skrillex aint proper dubstep, you wanna listen to some Burial or some shit mate, that's real dubstep' ... 'nurr brostep mate, that's all it is nurr nurr nurr'. Skrillex himself is a hardcore artist turned dubstep producer and I love the fact that he's introducing fans of other genres, there's nothing healthier. It's literally that elitist arsehole bullshit that's like 'oh yeah well, I liked that band before they were famous'... and what? You're a twat.
You know what the statement behind this pic reminds me of? It reminds me of an interview that Kings of Leon did when they were asked what reception they were getting from their fans in the light of 'sex on fire'. They said they'd seen two girls front and centre of their gig going mental signing along to everything and as soon as 'sex on fire' came on they refused to dance or sing and shook their heads at everyone around them. It makes me think, do these arseholes who bag Skrillex go to a dubstep night (which they might not even do) and go mad for everything until a Skrillex track gets dropped and then skulk about. I assume they do, and if they do, then that's arsehole.
And I don't claim moral high ground, I may have slipped out a derogatory comment here and there about this sort of thing but it's more along the lines of, 'yeah well, if you like David Guetta or Roll Deep now, should've heard them before they decided to cash in'... That's an observation based on an artist's change of direction that now doesn't suit my particular taste. I'm not claiming that people don't know anything about electro or grime, whatever. Basically, I'm going to cut sick at the next pleb who wants to comment on a youtube vid or post on a forum about how people who like Skrillex are somehow subordinate to this imagined hierarchy of dubstep fans which is based solely on the amount of time you've been aware of the genre. That, is bullshit. And this rant is finished. I welcome comments on this, unless those comments are obviously 'This track aint dubstep mate, you heard Ramadanman?'. Although in a way that's genious. So... here is one Skrillex track, for the dubstep fans, the soon to be converts and for people who haven't got a clue what I'm going on about and couldn't give a shit - everyone enjoy. Getting big love for the artist 'Sunday Girl'... Destined for big things, signed to Universal Records sister label Geffen Records with tracks being produced by no other than thee 'Diplo'. Apparently Jade Williams' alias comes from her nickname working part time at her local pet store - she is the 'Sunday Girl', let me have your thoughts. Yeah I'm late on this, only because I've been in awe of it. Best music video I've seen in an age. Directed by SebastiAn's Ed Banger co-label mate 'So Me', everything about this track is a beauty. A little bit more reserved than we've seen in the Frenchman's earlier work but if recent releases from the Ed Banger camp are anything to go by, this is just a warm up!

And yes, it's all a bit surreal but that is a Chris Brown track on iknowasong.com below. Fair play we love Benny and this mix has beefed up what otheriwse would be an uncanny addition to my posts. Right. A quick update - I wiped my hard drive last week thinking it was my external hard drive which was, and still remains, fucked. As a result I've lost every song, document, program, you name it that I've ever owned. It's taken me until now to stop sulking about it. And this song helped, a lot.
Now I'm not normally one for the playlisted radio tracks, nor am I heard listening to house music much these days, and you certainly won't catch me with much Burns material but that all changed when I heard this, can you get a better vocal sample? If so, give it me. Now.
This is a feel good, main room club anthem at its best. You may prefer the vocal track as opposed to this dub but I highly recommend you carry both on you at all times. It's not often I'm hooked on a first listen but this has humbled and surprised me. I coud hurl the most effusive bollocks at this track on repeat but today I'll spare you. Download this, give into it and just love everything. Tree Boy xoxox | burns__fred_falke_yslm | | File Size: | 7973 kb | | File Type: | mp3 | Download File
